We noticed trash
Then we noticed how we felt about it. We also realized we wanted to meet our neighbors. By feeding two birds with one scone, we were able to both help clean up our neighborhood and build a strong community.
Community Cleanup PLG has supported over 900+ volunteer hours and 5,500+ pounds of trash picked up since 2023. Thanks to our events, people have made new friends, felt more at home in their neighborhood, and contributed to something greater - all from something as simple as picking up trash.
We are supported by donations, partners, fellow trash clubs, and programs like the Sanitation Foundation’s Community Stewards program through which we have received grants in 2025 and 2026 😊.
Values
- We clean from a place of mutual care and respect for the environment. We don’t police neighbors’ choices or trash habits.
- We are open to all community members, and talk and share with anyone we meet.
- We are an inclusive space: we share names and pronouns, and accommodate access needs.
